Sen.Amy Klobuchar(D-MN) a ranking Senate antitrust subcommittee member together with Rep.David Cicilline (D-RI) a ranking House antitrust subcommittee member have both pleaded with their respective committees to carry an investigation into the proposed deal.According to Klobuchar, the deal is an industry-changing merger, which will have major implications in television, film and various media.

According to Cicilline, the proposed Disney purchase of 21st Century Fox threatens to put the management of TV, movie and news content into the hands of a single media agent.Cilline fear that if the deal is approved that Disney might set limitations to their consumers thereby increasing their cable bills.Disney will now have more than 300 channels,22 regional sports network, a control over Hulu and Roku.
The deal was made this week, with Disney agreeing to buy Fox for $52.4 billion with a separate guarantee for both teams should the buyout be blocked.
